LTVP or LTVP+ holders and business owners who are qualified to work for a Singapore firm may get a Letter of Consent (LOC) from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
Requirements for Eligibility
- You must be one of the following sorts of company owners in order to be eligible for a LOC:
- One who is the sole proprietor of a business that is registered with ACRA.
- A partner in a company that is registered with the ACRA.
- In an ACRA registered firm, a company director must own a minimum of a 30 percent investment in the stock of the company.
Dependent Pass holders will no longer be able to receive a Letter of Credit (LOC) since May 1st 2021, and will instead be required to seek a Work Permit in order to work in Singapore. Existing DP holders may continue to work in Singapore until the Letter of Consent (LOC) expires, allowing them to continue to earn their living. When the visa expires, the employer will be required to file for a new Work Visa.
Because the DP and, by extension, the LOC are related to the primary EP holder, both (the DP and the LOC) are immediately terminated with the termination of the EP itself.
Factors That Influence The Application For A LOC
Applicants for LOCs are not all granted approval. The Ministry of Manpower in Singapore retains the authority to approve or reject loc application. The Ministry of the Interior evaluates each application on an individual basis. The following are some of the elements that have an impact on the application:
- Age, salary, citizenship, educational background, job experience, and capabilities of the applicant
- Job Description for Applicants
- The availability of local applicants as well as the economic feasibility of the firm in Singapore is important considerations.
Following a rejection of the first application, an appeal may be filed in order to address any problems stated by MOM. The appeal application is typically reviewed within two to three weeks after receipt, depending on the volume of requests.
What Exactly Is A LOC That Has Been Pre-Approved?
Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) and Long Term Visit Pass Plus (LTVP+) holders who are spouses or unmarried children (under 21 years old) of Singaporeans or Permanent Residents (PR) are eligible to work in Singapore under the terms of a Pre-approved Letter of Consent (PLOC). Applications for new LTVP/LTVP+ applications as well as those that are presently up for renewal are eligible to take advantage of this new collaboration between the MOM and ICA. It makes it easier for them to adjust to life in Singapore by streamlining the integration process.
Who Is Eligible To Apply For A LOC?
An application for the Letter of Consent must be submitted by an employer or an employment agency on their behalf.
Is It Possible To Renew A LOC?
Yes, your employer or chosen employment agency may renew your letter of consent at the same time as your dependent pass or long-term visitor visa is renewed. Using a Singapore licensed service provider to handle your Singapore Letter of Consent application and subsequent receipt is recommended by the SRA. They will take care of the whole procedure for you and guarantee that you have your Singapore Letter of Consent as soon as possible after submitting your application.
